Sangama features a varnam exploring Sringara Rasa — the nayika’s longing for union with Lord Tyagesa of Tiruvarur. Developed in 2019 by Tripataka danceLab for a dance film commissioned through the National Arts Council’s Digital Production Grant, the work reflects on practising Bharatanatyam in Singapore. It engages with tradition through contemporary experience, personal narrative, and cultural inquiry.
Shaped by research, dialogue, and lived experience, the work unfolds through contrasts such as breath and space, stillness and movement, ritual and emotion — inviting audiences into layered emotional, metaphorical, and spiritual states.
